Welcome to the Rugby League Section
Rugby League is the fastest and most exciting team sport in the world! A standard game involves two teams of 13 multi-skilled players with the simple aim being to score more points than your opponents, however you now don’t have to play the full version of the game to be part of this great sport, which is why we are introducing a 7-a-side competition for the first time this academic year.
Over the new academic year in conjunction with the Bradford Bulls Foundation and Rugby League Development Officer Tom Duff we aim to provide the opportunity for more students to play this fantastic game. We also want to help teaching staff improve their Rugby League knowledge and will be planning to provide a number of staff development opportunities during the academic year. The new season will start with a 7-a-side Year 7 and Year 8 boy’s competition to which all schools in the association are invited to join. |

Those successful schools from last year will be taking part in the Champion Schools Competition, the largest knock-out Rugby League competition in the world. In the last five years, more than 1,500 schools and 90,000 pupils have taken part.
We will be running a summer rugby league competition once again for all age groups and are planning to introduce a new touch league for girls in the summer term.
Rugby league is a fast growing sport, in the last two years, Rugby League has experienced a 27% increase in participation with almost 250,000 people currently involved as players, coaches, match officials or volunteers. Especially pleasing is that participation among women and girls has also seen a healthy year-on-year increase of 42%
We would like many more schools taking part in rugby league, especially from schools from the north side of the city, come on GET INVOLVED!”
